After the standard warmup with games, some further work on synergy and posture we moved swiftly into the competency based training going through the technical principles behind and arm lock and how to deliver a backhand across the face. Given that the group was made from experienced individuals this evening this was covered very quickly with examination given to the technicalities of the actions rather than specific acting, although I fear that the lull in acting practice may soon be coming to an end.
After a short break we restarted in two separate groups. The one group working towards preparation for the gladiatorial event at Stevenage with fight practice and some experimentation with dual sword use for the ladies, who plan on fighting as dimachaerii. The other group spending their time examining the use stage combat with the medieval sword drills we have been practicing from Talhoffer and Fiore.
After training we spent time preparing for the trip to the Living History Market this coming Saturday, looking at some new armour a couple of the group had, had made for them and discussing plans for the coming few months.
